Review: my Hanuman Chalisa

my Hanuman Chalisa my Hanuman Chalisa by Devdutt Pattanaik
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well advance warning I am not a religious person and I would even call myself an Atheist but something are just so good and part of our lives that we don't even know and we enjoy them, same is with the Hanuman Chalisa, I hadn't read it in it's entirety before but when listening to this book I knew most of the lines because osmosis. And yes all the extra information by Mr. Pattanaik was wonderful too about different types of statues of Hanuman and different versions of Hanuman and Ramayan. I liked the narration too and didn't find too many problems and I don't know why so many people are up in arms about the narration being horrible. Well maybe they are better versed in Audiobooks this would have be my 10th of 12th Audiobook off Audible. Well after all it's Hanuman Chalisa and this and it's recitation are part of life in India so just say Jai Hanuman.

People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is of course Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Review: Blue Moon

Blue Moon Blue Moon by Lee Child
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rating be more like 4.5 and this might be the first book which I took out of the delivery package and started reading and it was awesome. I would say one thing that first of all don't be a criminal especially in the world created by Lee Child and if you are a criminal then pray to all your ancestors that you do not cross Jack Reacher or else it wouldn't end well for you not at all. This time the action is set in an unknown city after all Child didn't want to get in trouble as this book deals with something is which is a big problem now a days. After a long time there's a body count a mile long and I love it. Go ahead and do the same, 24th book and Reacher is getting better and better.

Review: Leah on the Offbeat

Leah on the Offbeat Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ah well The narrator did too good a job or Becky did a wonderful job and maybe the issue is that I am too old now at 37 or that I never had an angsty side even when I was a teenager. Well I didn't like Leah much at all and seeing how the book is through her perspective and she's the title character now. I am excited about this one because I liked Leah well enough in Simon and the Homosapiens Agenda. But nothing much I mean nothing much happen in the entire book and Leah was too hyper much too like she keeps on reminding everyone that she is being bitchy or acting like a dick and mean and all that. So end result was that I didn't like this Audio Book too much. But still it was good enough.

Review: Wrecking Ball

Wrecking Ball Wrecking Ball by Jeff Kinney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 14th yes #14 book in the series and for me this was just about there. I liked it but because they make you laugh here and there but most of the book was static only focusing on one thing at a time and then just getting stuck there. And Although I finish these books fairly quickly and honestly you can finish one of these in couple of hours easy. Ah well it was okay and I hope that next one would be funnier and better because after all there is going to be #15 for sure.

Review: The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was third Malcolm Gladwell book I read and also similar to others which I wanted to read for a long time. This one deals with statistics and how there is a critical point in spread of anything idea or virus that can make it successful or a failure and with various examples Mr. Gladwell successfully pushed his ideas forward from Independence of USA to resurgence of a Shoe Brand to Shows for Kids to Teenage Smoking to Teenage Suicide. This one was the book which I felt can be used in Marketing studies or advertising after all it already contains many examples of the Sticky message.

I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Review: Outliers: The Story of Success

Outliers: The Story of Success Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Like the subtitle says it's the story of success and provides a wonderful study of successful people and hitting ground running by proving again and again that to be successful along with the person the support area and time period is as important to make sure that the person is successful. Mr. Gladwell takes example from different fields, Sports, Music, IT etc. and prove again and again that their success owed itself to lot of fortunate co-incidents and opportunities which they could utilize. In other words along with the talent these people were there at the right place on the right time and today these guys are Billionaires and superstars. Loved this wonderful book do read it and enjoy.

Review: Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking

Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This turned out to be my very first read by Malcolm Gladwell and I remember that I wanted to read this and Outliers for the longest of the times. Well I finally could and wow Gladwell first introduces the concept of snap decisions then it's success stories then it's horror stories then the people who have mastered the art of snap decisions and then the science of Snap Decisions. It was a wonderful book I liked it immensely. I now tend to listen to ebooks via Text to speech than staring at my phone screen so I can get through even the boring parts in a go. But here those were few and far between and and I liked this one like I said earlier.

Review: The Upside of Unrequited

The Upside of Unrequited The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is part of my effort to actually listen to real audio books which I have in Audible and not just be stuck to Text to Speech for my eBooks. I liked Simon and liked this one and I am sure I would like the Leah too which I am going to read/listen next. This one is cute fluffy story of twin sisters Molly and Cassie who are 17 years old. Cassie finds a girl friend and Molly who is a little chubby and only had crushes so far struggles as her sister drifts away and Molly finds herself and her feelings pulled in two directions. Well it was nice change from the usual reads of Fantasy or Adult Romance. Well so time for Vampire Romance or Leah well see you in the next one.

Review: Anansi Boys

Anansi Boys Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow this one just doesn't get a simple story with Neil Gaiman well I guess you can get that but don't be reading story set in American Gods for that. This is the story of Fat Charlie who isn't fat but was a chubby kid and the nickname given to him by his dad stuck. His dad dies and there he learns that he also has a brother called Spider whom he didn't remember. And then the craziness begins. Like another reviewer has said that two worlds or rather two halves of the stories change drastically jarringly. But overall I enjoyed this journey back to the magical world of Gods and Monsters Mr. Gaiman has been able to produce. Do check it after you have read American Gods.

Review: Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders

Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders by Neil Gaiman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Unlike most people I like a sprinkle of Short Stories collection once in a while. And this one I tacked coming off from Good Omens after all why not. And there was that anticipation of American Gods Novella but that was all the way to end and to reach that. I am in awe of the weird imagination and wonderful mind of Neil Gaiman. Short stories are on varied subjects and like all the short stories collections some stories work while others don't work so well. But it was well enough. And I am happy to have read it.

Review: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read it before of course, I have read it, I have seen the movie, good one and the bad ones. I have seen the limited series adaptation of the story. This time it was audiobook which carried to the land of the weirdness and goofiness. This particular version was narrated by Arundhati Raja and she did a wonderful job with the narration However I would have loved to hear it in Scarlet Johhanson's voice oh my do I buy this book again on Audible to hear her version, eh, maybe I will. Overall I like this weird tale but sometimes it gets too weird for my 37 years old self. And in summation it's a classic for a reason and it's a lovely and timeless tale despite all the weirdness.

Review: Frostbite

Frostbite Frostbite by Richelle Mead
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow so this is shaping up to be good series, I finished most of the remaining book in a single session as I was in the train so what better way to pass the time. This was fun, yeah cringe inducing too but that shocking scene did bring tears to my eyes too. This was huge fun with heartbreak and with lightening speed I am on to the next part. See you there too.

Review: The Girl in Room 105

The Girl in Room 105 The Girl in Room 105 by Chetan Bhagat
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I don't know why does it happen and I end up supporting and writing about the reason why I like authors like Chetan Bhagat or Durgesh Dutta but I don't understand the extreme hate towards Mr. Bhagat. Is the story lacks something sure I am not saying it's a masterwork but there is certainly scope for lighters books which you can hash out in a day or two well with my current schedule it took me a little longer to finish it but still I finished it quicker than other books.

Coming to this book like everybody would tell you this time over the story is a murder mystery and it's handled in a good manner. People who are complaining about the sloppy investigation by main protagonist should remember that Keshav and Saurabh are smarter than normal but still they are simple fools. I liked the characters and the reveal too though I had suspected the culprit but somehow my but the story beats confused my simple mind too, after all I never claimed to be smart one myself :P. I liked it and let's hope that Mr. Bhagat comes up with another good book next time over too after all he has his ups and downs too.
