Review: Wonder Woman, Volume 2: Year One

Wonder Woman, Volume 2: Year One Wonder Woman, Volume 2: Year One by Greg Rucka
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you read my review of the first volume you might have noticed I had wrote about the fact that all the issues collected in volume one were odd numbered ones. Well so the second volume comes along packing all the even numbered issues plus an issue telling backstory of Barbara Ann Minerva the Cheetah before she became Cheetah and yeah this is another origin story of WW if you saw the movie then you already know half of the story only thing different would be that the movie was set in late 1910s this book is set in modern times. So now I believe that 1-2, 3-4 were launched together to carry two different stories each numbered issue continuing the story so you wanna continue story from issue #1 go to issue #3 and then you wanna continue from #6 then go to #8 and so on and so forth.

As the trend because Diana is a kickass woman she found herself a posse of other kickass women too and all the power to them. Although the art was better here but still the issue continued where in after many wonderful arts suddenly few panels would be way off. But things definitely improved.

I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics I can. So you also give a chance to comics and Graphic Novels and Keep on Reading.

Review: Prince of Thorns

Prince of Thorns Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well you like Anti-Heroes did you say? You like different characters? You liked conflicted characters? Well Mark Lawrence heard you all and gave a you kid who at 14 is much more bad-ass, cruel and heartless that you would be hard-pressed to call him a hero or an Anti-Hero no sir Jorg is a villain with a band of villain who go around killing people, raping girls/women, looting them and shocker Jorg is an actual prince who saw the murder of his mother and younger brother and since then his heart is full of hate and he has let hate fester so much that his heart is now dark with hate and he doesn't even think for a second before slitting the throat of someone he was travelling for last few months.

And if you think by the setting and the world that this is fantasy novel set during the middle ages then one interesting line shatters that idea to million nay Billion little pieces and then there was nothing and hopefully things will be explored in the next books.

You wouldn't believe if I tell you how long this trilogy and then next trilogy and the next trilogy by Mr. Lawrence was with me and I was just waiting for I don't know what but it took almost destruction of two books in the latest trilogy that I finally decided to start my journey in the fantasy world created by Mark Lawrence who is amazingly super active on Goodreads. As I finish this I already have the next book in the series King of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #2) by Mark Lawrence out and ready and hope to start it as soon as I reach home. Hey also far warning this is a violent violent book with lotsa violence and sexual crimes and references so tread carefully.

So having provided you the warning, I obviously loved the book and would suggest you to go ahead and enjoy this world and prepare to get lost in bloody adventures of a 14 years old prince who is full of zeal to avenge the crimes against him and then as usual just Keep on Reading.

Review: Something Wicked This Way Comes

Something Wicked This Way Comes Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another Bradbury book down and another will begin, this one though was full of childhood fun and then discovery of something horrific and then the efforts to fight that. A Carnival comes to town during the night and friends Jim and Will find out that the things are not as they might seem and something darker is at hand. There are definitely creepy and unexplained things happening in the carnival and they do find more information and try to fight with parental intervention by one of the parents. The title comes from one of Shakespeare's plays and something wicked indeed came the way.

Well do pick and hopefully remove another classical book from your TBR and then just Keep on Reading .

Review: Wonder Woman, Volume 1: The Lies

Wonder Woman, Volume 1: The Lies Wonder Woman, Volume 1: The Lies by Greg Rucka
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So another day another Rebirth issue done and dusted like others said this issue also doesn't explain anything about rebirth thingie but still it was a nice read and as usual I flew through the book, this begins with Diana expressing doubts about her memories and tries to enter few divine places but can't and then something, something, something, Cheetah etc.

The art was very much varied in some panels it's breathtaking, in other places it's passable and in multiple places it's downright ugly. Story was fine and I noticed that this contained the odd numbered issues like 1, 3, 5, 7 and it continued the story so was the story broken every other issues in the normal run 1 had different end 2 had different beginning and end, 3 picks after 1, 4 picks after 2 etc. Well this collection was good time to jump onto the next volume Year One let's see how that fares up.

Review: Superman: Birthright

Superman: Birthright Superman: Birthright by Mark Waid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It was a modern day retelling of Superman's origin set during the modern time well modern time circa 2003 so not to modern as it's 2019 now and the updated time is already 16 years past but still a fun fun read and it was fun read about Supes start in the modern times and we have almost all the major points like his journey as a secret superhero, his initial journey to earth, his search for his truth, creation of his dress, Louis Lane, Jim, Mr. White, Lex Luthor etc. and this deals with Clark's search for the way to use his powers for good and he tries to do that in Metropolis but he has Lex Luthor in his path who does his best to discredit Superman. And it was lotsa fun.

Review: Catch Me If You Can

Catch Me If You Can Catch Me If You Can by Frank W. Abagnale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

More of a 4.25 or even 4.5 book it was phenomenal read and I had seen the movie based on the book long back and loved it. It was a fun read and though it was a tale of Frank's shenanigan as a Con man it was really surprising to read about his success with his cons. It was really surprising the ease with which he was able to play along in his con game and definitely shows that how intelligent person he was and it was fun.

So yeah watch the wonderful movie but first of all go ahead and read this book and hopefully you would enjoy the movie more I had seen the movie way back so I was able to enjoy the book a lot and would look to watch the movie again. So yeah read this fun little book and then just Keep on Reading .
